Product description here
Our product is derived from Bacillus spp. used to mitigate AHPND in shrimp aquaculture is typically a probiotic formulation. This product contains live, beneficial Bacillus bacteria known for their ability to enhance shrimp immunity and inhibit harmful pathogens like Vibrio parahaemolyticus, which causes AHPND.
Key Features of Our Product:
- Bacillus Strain Selection: The formulation includes specific strains of Bacillus species that have demonstrated antimicrobial properties and the ability to outcompete harmful bacteria.
- Mode of Action:
- Competitive Exclusion: The Bacillus spp. colonize the shrimp's gut or the water environment, limiting the space and nutrients available for harmful pathogens, and effectively outcompeting them.
- Production of Antimicrobial Compounds: These bacteria secrete compounds like bacteriocins, enzymes, and surfactants that directly inhibit or kill pathogenic bacteria, such as Vibrio spp.
- Immune Stimulation: Bacillus spp. are known to enhance the shrimp's immune system, helping shrimp resist infections by promoting the production of immune-related proteins.
- Application Methods:
- Feed Additive: The product can be mixed with shrimp feed, ensuring that the beneficial bacteria colonize the shrimp's gut.
- Water Treatment: It can also be applied directly to the aquaculture pond water to improve overall water quality and prevent the growth of harmful pathogens in the shrimp's environment.
- Sustainability Focus: This probiotic-based solution offers a sustainable alternative to antibiotics, reducing the need for chemical treatments and improving the overall health and productivity of shrimp farms.

Our 6-month goal is to validate the efficacy of selected Bacillus species in protecting Litopenaeus vannamei (Pacific white shrimp) from AHPND.
This involves conducting lab and field trials, optimizing treatment protocols, and collecting data on shrimp health, survival rates, and disease resistance.
By the end of this period, the aim is to have a clear understanding of how to apply Bacillus spp. in aquaculture settings for disease prevention.

Describe what you need the most
<aside>
<img src="/icons/bell-notification_pink.svg" alt="/icons/bell-notification_pink.svg" width="40px" /> Describe the kinds of help you need the most (funding, expertise, technology, access, etc).
- We need help from product development to develop our product.
Product development is essential for optimizing the efficacy, safety, and scalability of the Bacillus spp. probiotic, ensuring that it meets the practical needs of shrimp farmers while effectively preventing AHPND. It ensures the product is market-ready, cost-effective, and compliant with regulatory standards, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and successful shrimp aquaculture industry
- We need a Government partner for our business. A government partner is crucial for regulatory, financial, and infrastructural support, as well as for policy advocacy and capacity building. Government involvement helps scale the project, ensures compliance with regulations, and promotes sustainable practices that benefit not only the aquaculture industry but also public health, the environment, and the economy. Their support is essential for achieving long-term success and widespread adoption of probiotic technology.
- We need a corporate partner for our product. A corporate partner is essential not only for scaling and commercializing the probiotic product, but also for providing the resources, expertise, and infrastructure necessary to create a sustainable and lasting impact in shrimp aquaculture. The collaboration would accelerate innovation, reduce risks, and ensure that the project reaches its full potential in transforming the industry.
- We need funding for this project. Funding is essential to cover the costs of research, development, scaling, and outreach needed to bring this sustainable solution to market and help address the critical challenges faced by shrimp farmers due to AHPND.
