Describe your product and your key goals

Describe your product Ja~la! Prototiles™ by Parongpong RAW Lab is a circular building material made from abandoned fishing nets or ghost nets using Parongpong RAW Lab’s Prototech™ technology. We work with fishermen from coastal communities for ghost net collection.

  1. Enhancing Prototiles™️ for Market Expansion and Safety Compliance: In the next 6 months, we will focus on enhancing Prototiles™️ by adding fire retardancy, UV protection, and non-toxic properties. These upgrades will increase the material’s appeal for both indoor and outdoor applications, enabling us to expand into markets requiring fire-safe, UV-resistant, and non-toxic building materials and furniture. By achieving these advancements, we will not only strengthen Prototiles™️’s performance but also ensure compliance with safety regulations, boost marketability and solidify our commitment to sustainable innovation.

  2. Greatly Increase Production by Scaling Up Machinery:

To meet the growing demand for Ja~la! Prototiles™, we plan to scale up our production capabilities through the acquisition of advanced machinery. By investing in efficient, state-of-the-art equipment, we aim to enhance our manufacturing processes, increase output, and improve product consistency. This scalability is crucial for maintaining supply as we expand our market presence and establish partnerships. Additionally, scaling up will allow us to optimize resource use and minimize waste in our production cycle, further aligning with our sustainability objectives.

  3. Sign MOUs with More Business Partners and Clients:

Building strategic partnerships is essential for our growth. We are actively seeking to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with various business partners and clients, including construction companies, architects, and government agencies. These agreements will facilitate collaboration, allowing us to integrate Ja~la! Prototiles™ into larger projects and initiatives. By establishing strong relationships with key stakeholders, we can enhance our market reach, share knowledge, and jointly pursue sustainability goals. These partnerships will not only drive sales but also create a network of advocates for our mission to transform waste into valuable resources.

Describe what you need the most

Describe the kinds of help you need the most (funding, expertise, technology, access, etc).

  1. Supply Chain Risk: Even though our project location is still reachable for shipment and transport, transporting collected ghost nets from remote coastal communities to the lab can be complex and costly. Coastal areas may lack the necessary infrastructure for efficient transportation, leading to delays and increased logistics costs. Additionally, the collection process might face challenges such as the unpredictability of ghost net availability and the environmental conditions of these areas. Coordinating with various stakeholders, such as local fishers and transportation providers, can further complicate the supply chain, potentially disrupting the timely production of Ja~la! Prototiles™.
  2. Funding Challenges: Securing ongoing funding for operations, especially in the early stages, requires significant initial investment in research, equipment, and workforce. Without consistent financial backing, scaling production and maintaining operational stability may prove difficult. Investors might also hesitate to commit to a project reliant on niche sources like abandoned fishing nets, requiring a convincing business model and social impact to attract sustainable funding.
  3. Quality Control Risk: Ensuring that Ja~la! Prototiles™ meet relevant safety and building standards is critical to their success, but achieving this may require rigorous testing and compliance checks. Since the tiles use unconventional materials such as recycled ghost nets, extensive research and development are needed to ensure they possess the necessary structural integrity and durability. This testing process can be time-consuming, and meeting local or international standards for construction materials may introduce additional costs. Any failure to meet these standards could delay product launches or necessitate costly revisions to the manufacturing process.
